30 Days of Torchwood: Day 07: Favourite Alien/Villain

I could probably come up with a more thoughtful and intelligent answer to this question, but I'll go with the blowfish alien from S2 for nostalgic reasons. I know it sounds a bit ridiculous and backward, but it was only with TW S2 that I began to download episodes and actually follow a show and fandom in real time, and I still associate the slightly giddy New Torchwood, finally!!! feeling with the opening scene of KKBB and 'Excuse me, have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?'

Good times... And I know exactly how you feel. I watched S1 because it'd tie in with DW, but it was so bleak, and so uneven, and had so many unanswered questions that I never really took to it (apart from Jack/Ianto because they were so delightfully messed up, and the show in their case managed to do subtle). But by the time S2 came round we'd had all the exposition during Jack's guest stint on DW, and there was James Masters guest starring and I realised that actually I was very very fond of my silly little show. And KKBB didn't disappoint in the least! :)

I actually started with TW and then watched DW. Which may sound odd, but you don't really get exposed to DW over here; they only ever aired the first two New Who seasons on German TV, and that only in 2008. I picked up TW on the internet, so to speak; I certainly saw YouTube clips of the CJH kiss and the EoD kiss before I watched the full episodes on DVD. And then of course I became interested in Jack's backstory, once I realised he had a backstory somewhere else, and that was that. *g*

TW was really more or less love on first sight for me.

That must still be one of the best single sentences on television, ever.
