Wherein I ramble at long lengths about *Troy*...  )

yesterday...

Yet more strawberries.

Visited the new Liechtenstein museum which I'm not convinced lives up to the hype around its opening, or the € 10.- entrance fee, for that matter. Then again, I'm not much a fan of Rubens. A couple of interesting portraits, beautiful garden.

*shrug*

Henna-dyed my hair, in between too much bored TV watching; Smallville, Prodigal, which despite the squeeing of fangirls a year ago when it was aired on US television mostly strikes me as extremely sad, because with the sheer level of familial dysfunctionality it clearly shows that Lex, as much as he may want to believe this, doesn’t stand the slightest chance of getting out of this undamaged.

Alien, the last part, loved Sigourney Weaver there.

Unsurprisingly, it being Sunday, it's raining again...

Hm.. trailer for 'Troy' ...

I'm going to see it, of course - professional, well, exprofessional, interest or whatever you want to call it -, but if the trailer is anything to go by it doesn't look particularly interesting so far. I gather Peter O'Toole is going to be in it as well as Sean Bean, which is good (seeing as Bean's Boromir was one of the few characters in the LotR movie I actually found tolerable)... butbutbut. Brad. Pitt. As Achilles. I'm a bit apprehensive here, as I've never liked him or even found him remotely attractive and he already spoiled Louis in 'Interview with the Vampire' for me. (To think it was Tom Cruise I was worried about...) Plus, there was this rumour floating around that Jennifer Aniston made him turn down the part of Hephaistion in Oliver Stone's Alexander the Great movie because it would be 'bad for his image'. While this sounds almost too ludicrous to be true, does this mean we should assume 'Troy' is going to be a testosterone-packed action movie entirely lacking in (canonical, too!) homoeroticism... And Orlando Bloom, who's yet to convince me he can do more than look pretty. Not a kind of pretty that particularly appeals to me, either...

I'd like to see a movie based only on the Iliad rather than the whole trojan war myth, focusing on the psychological depths. You could turn this into something on the scope of Apocalypse Now, i think...
