Oct. 8th, 2003 08:03 amI have a vague urge to apologise to the people of California...
ETA: worse... our chancellor sees fit to publically congratulate AS in the name of Austria (AGAIN! What I probbably hate most about our current government is how they just hijack you, even if you never voted for them - either of the parties involved. As with the EU sanctions back then.. ) and express his conviction that he will lead California out of the current crisis. Plus, it's supposed to be good publicity for Austria.
Can he be any more embarrassing?!
:: facepalm ::
ETA (2): The statement from our minister of foreign affairs is even more embarrassing. But than that was to be expected.
I don't see how his getting elected has any bearings on Austria whatsoever or is any reason to be particularly proud. Now I'm not a fan of Arnold, but it's pretty obvious all Austria had to do with his success (whatever you may think of it) is inspire a wish in him to get the hell out of his home-country. The US made him a star, not Austria. This tendency to re-appropriate people who somewhere else made a career they'd never have made if they'd stayed is one of our worst national traits.
