Yesterday's MD episode... I don't know. After the emotional intensity of ep.7 it felt a bit anticlimactic to me, although it did have a lot of isolated strong character moments. I'm just not sure if it all really came together... Hm. Also, considering how completely I've already embarrassed myself with last week's post (*facepalm*), I made a resolution to stop speculating about future plot twists. Shouldn't be to hard to keep with only two more episodes to go, and will save me a lot of time that I don't really have anyway right now.

What's more, I'm starting to think I'm ruining the whole thing for myself with too specific expectations.


Still, though, why even introduce the religious angle, when you're not going to use it? Why create a religious character like Angelo, if his Catholicism apparently had no further impact on his storyline and immortality was all he wanted? Was that just a giant red herring? Damn it, I was so certain after the last episode that there was a connection to the religious side of the miracle, that that wasn't just trappings, but a genuine sentiment.

Or was that the memories of my brief teenage religious phase getting the better of me?

Have we really seen the last of Angelo? How much did his granddaughter really know? Was he as uninvolved in the miracle as this episode made it out to be? The alien technical field thingy was under his bed after all. Right. Resolution. Stopping now.


Also, I can't say I'm too worried about Jack right now, seeing as we still have two episodes to go, and more importantly, he's the only person who can fix the whole thing or even understands what is really happening... This is too much like Eleven getting shot right at the beginning of S6.

I agree. It was anticlimactic, esp. the part about Angelo. His granddaughter?? They made it seem like he was 100% gay, although I guess he could have married because of social pressure. Also they didn't explain how he got that panel or what exactly it did. I expected they were going to find out he was killed somehow by Jack kissing him. I mean, he died right after that. I also expected more of the religious theme.

The granddaughter didn't come as that much of a surprise to me because I vaguely thought she might be his daughter last week. Between the Italian thing and the Catholic thing and Jack leaving him I can see how that might have happened.

I expected they were going to find out he was killed somehow by Jack kissing him.

I was really surprised no one thought to ask Jack what he'd done. Everyone's immortal, and suddenly someone dies with Jack alone in the room with him. I'd have been the logical, if not inevitable question, and no one asked it.

But at least we'll probably learn more about the panel in the next episodes?

A lot of gsy men have marraied women in the past - including Elton John for a while - which is why it wasn't a surprise to me and wouldn't have been a surprise to many other viewers.

As for the episode itself, it wasn't as good as last week and once again had so many things going on, that individual plot points didn't get as much time as they should have and the story continued to have this dragging feeling. I wasn't impressed with Gwen this week either, if anything, I think Esther came across better. Gwen has always been a tough cookie for sure and I don't know whether its just me but her constant verbal aggression is wearing a bit thin in this series. I know she's never had a daughter to worry about before and of course it's going to make her emotional but she's still coming across too aggressively for me.

John Barrowman got another chance to shine though and John DeLancie was quite good fun.
