I agree. In itself it was an interesting and somewhat effective idea, but on DW? I've seen very little classic DW, so I can't speak for that, but I can't recall this kind of off-hand, okayed by the Doctor and unquestioned on any level, violence during RTD's run. The fact that people are being turned into killers without being able to make a conscious decision about that, and without even remembering it, is almost the antithesis of how he treated the whole violence/death theme.
