30 Days of Torchwood: Day 13: Favourite Promo Picture

To be perfectly honest I don't like most of them, because they have this tendency to be over-photoshoped until the characters are barely recongiseable any longer.

If I have to pick one, it's perhaps these two:




This, because I really like the composition. Also, Gwen with the guns. It's not perfect (Gwen's eyes look a bit odd and the left side of Jack's face seems to be cut off somewhat), but overall it's classier and more stylish than most of the rest.





And this one, for purely sentimental reasons, although in hindsight it's so obviously taken with Ianto's death in mind. (Looking at that set of pictures now, I'm actually surprised that we didn't see it then. Take this one with Jack, Gwen and Ianto, for example. No one is looking at each other, and Ianto is looking down, away from both the viewer and the rest of the team, his eyes closed. Whoever may or may not have lied about CoE, the pictures didn't.)

*nodnod* Someone should really tell those in charge of the promo pictures that there is such a thing as too much photoshop. I'd have loved to have a Torchwood coffee mug, but I really rather hated the S1 pictures they used for them.

No, it's a good photo. I tried to put it into words for a while, but finally gave up in frustration because I couldn't find the right ones, but it captures something, a sense of vulnerability, a tenderness that they didn't have that often on screen, especially not Jack. Well, something like that. Still not quite the right words. *sigh*

Maybe it's because Jack's eyes are closed. You don't get that that often. He's always looking straight at you, he has this unflinching thing he does.
