Wow. Wow. And for good measure, wow.
The way Unit treated Toshiko put a lot of this season into perspective. Granted, still morally iffy, but on the whole the lesser evil.
Jack's beginning in Torchwood, I was really hurting for him. So apparently it was TW who sent him after the Night Travellers, but no wonder he's unwilling to talk about that time. It's a miracle that he can still stand the place. But a good explanation for the transition from DW Jack to TW Jack.
Jack and Ianto - That certainly changes things a bit. I'm now mostly inclined to think that Jack does love Ianto, simply because he was willing to forgive him that measure of determined deception, planning and betrayal, and his utter rage in Cyberwoman is a lot more understandable now. I was hesitant bordering on guilty to even speculate that they were sleeping together before Lisa's death (mixture of manipulation, loneliness and attraction), but after this episode? If Jack hadn't agreed to give him the job when he did, I'm pretty sure Ianto would have offered sex next. He knew he needed to get into Torchwood, and if that was what it took then he'd do it.
And Captain John being willing to kill Jack's team and destroy the whole planet just to get him back - shouldn't have been a surprise, but still shocking.
