I think that right from the start the writing team have been keen to show Torchwood as morally gray. I suspect that this was a reminder. After last week where everyone pulled together more and the team was almost looking like a bunch of people you could like, I think that this was a reminder to the viewer that actually Torchwood has always been on the rougher side of the tracks - right from its inception on Dr.Who. The moral of the Torchwood institution has always been to protect Britain from aliens no matter what (even if they were running away at the time.)

I think Ianto's default state is calm - he was calm all the time he had Lisa down in the basement, wasn't he? Still waters run deep :) But it seems to take an absolute crisis to ruffle the surface. But yes, I agree that there's a potential for a lot of surprises there. Ianto is, after all, capable of executing a detailed and ambitious plan right under the noses of his team fellows while leaving everyone under the impression that all he does is order pizza. So it wouldn't exactly surprise me if his long term plan was to get revenge on Jack for killing Lisa. Who knows?

The correct term in Britain for a black actress would be 'black'. (Ie 'a black woman, a black actress, a black person' etc, but *not* just 'a black' - that's right out. It was 'person of colour' about 20 years ago, but everyone seems to have felt that that was unwieldy and vaguely patronising.
