Oct. 7th, 2006 11:50 amEnded up making the chestnut cream three times, since the second attempt sort of failed again, although not as disastrously as the first, when I added the dissolved gelatin mixture. (Solution: mix the gelatin into the chestnut-sugar mix, and only then - carefully - add the whipped cream. Damn cook-book, for not spelling this out for idiots like me.) I can't get my life into any sort of order, but I can & will endlessly obsess about making a birthday cake as perfectly as it ought to be done, and it bugs me worse when such minor things I (think I) actually should be able to control go awry. Sometimes I really hate the way my personality works, hate being able to actually analyse this, but seemingly unable to do anything about it.
Bought couverture chocolate, glazed chestnuts for the decoration, gift-wrap paper and ribbon, groceries for me & four kilos of carrots for two days of horse-sitting, because Ch.'s holidays always seem to coincide with weekends that are stressful to begin with. ::sigh::
Tired & ready to tear out my hair by now.
Wondering what will go wrong with the glazing.
