Picture spam, pt.3. (*) This was a week ago, although with all the snow today I can hardly believe that. I almost didn't make it out of bed when the alarm rang at 5:15 (or more precisely, I very nearly crawled back into bed again, even after I'd already breakfasted and packed my rucksack), but I'm very, very glad I did...

(*) Very spammy indeed. The day was glorious and I couldn't decide which pictures to pick and which to leave out.

Oh, solitary-summer. These are just stunning. The first one, the dark trunks silhouetted against the blue sky and the light through the golden leaves, the contrast of gold and dark, light and shadow. The second one, the feeling of the trees reaching upwards, the contrast of the dark ground at the bottom and then the light through the trunks and lower leaves and then the dark upper boughs. The third one, the feeling of soaring upwards, the pattern of light and shadow. The fourth one, the feeling of hidden mystery in the depths of the forest, the colors...

All of them. The sheer awesome beauty.

WOW.

Thank you for posting these. Thank you so much.

Thank you!!! :) :) (I know this sounds really horribly vain, but I love looking at them myself... it was such an incredibly, indescribably lovely day.)

(I keep reading bad things about the weather situation in New York in the headlines even of German news sites... Be safe! I know this doesn't really help, but thinking about you and your mother.)

My word, those are beautiful, especially the ones of the mountaintops!

Thank you! :)

(I should perhaps add that I used a polarizing filter for most of the pictures. For some reason the sky looked extremely washed out without it, and as a result the colours are perhaps a little more intense than they would have been otherwise.)

I've found that is the best way to get shots that include a rich, blue sky. Polarizing filters are my favorite.
