Another New Year meme while I do that procrastination thing I do & ponder if turning my Smallville S5 watching notes into a coherent post would be worth the time & bother. Especially considering how embarrassingly lengthy the comments post for the last season turned out to be.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
See a therapist, not that I'm sure it's been doing all that much good so far. Buy and take photos with a DSLR camera. All kinds of niece related things.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Not so much; I even started to skip Spanish class in December. No; it's not as if I'll keep them/make them happen anyway.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Spain and Germany.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Utterly pathetic as this may sound, a boyfriend/girlfriend. Sometimes I just get so very tired of always being alone.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Dates, not so much, but I will remember my holiday in Spain, and New Year. And meeting H.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Accievement? HAHAhahahahaha. Although I'm a bit proud of myself for sticking with the braces, what with my dentistphobia and all.
9. What was your biggest failure?
My inability to change my life.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
The camera!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My aunt's, in a way.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own, mostly. Humanity's in general.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and bills aside, camera, DVDs, plane tickets.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I'm just not that excitable. Photography. Torchwood. Harry Potter.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
If I have to think about the answer, probably none.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
I don't know. I can't remember any specific details about 2006 either; no big emotional landmarks. The first part of the year hasn't been so bad, but the for last months I've been almost constantly depressed and pretty much hating myself. For a while I believed that I would actually get better in the long run, but maybe I just don't have the psychological makeup to be really happy.
b) thinner or fatter?
A bit thinner maybe, but more or less about the same.
c) richer or poorer?
About the same.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Photography, reading. Exercise.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Wasting time.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with my family, boringly.
21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
No, although for a couple of weeks I actually thought something like that might be within the realm of future possibility.
22. How many one-night stands?
None, to no one's surprise.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Torchwood and Doctor Who. Also watched Oz, QaF:UK and the Hornblower movies and re-watched all five seasons of B5.
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think I've hated anyone last year, either.
25. What was the best book you read?
I haven't really kept track. Re-reads aside, Doctor Shiwago probably. And an honorary mention should go to Deathly Hallows, which I really did enjoy.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
There's been some new stuff, but I feel a bit blah about it. John Barrowman, I guess. And discovering to my own surprise that Year Zero actually got me interested in NIN again.
27. What did you want and get?
---
28. What did you want and not get?
---
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I haven't been to the cinema enough this year for a favourite film.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Nothing that I remember, and livejournal is silent on this topic, too; I vaguely remember cake. 35.
31.What one thing would have made your yearimmeasurably more satisfying?
If the whole thing with H. had turned out differently.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
First half of the year, skirts, trousers and shirts; them mostly trousers and shirts, because I developed a sudden aversion to too female items of clothing; not that I ever dressed girlishly to begin with.
33. What kept you sane?
Habit. Other people. Photography. Then again, some days I'm not actually sure I'm sane.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
'Fancy' is overstating the case, but I did have a bit of a fangirlish obsession with John Barrowman for a while.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Global warming, and the attitude towards it. People/politicians are discovering now that we're going tobe in really deep shit have a bit of a problem if the rest of the world aspires to the standard of living we're enjoying? It's fucking unbelievable. Maybe we deserve to be extinct.
36. Who did you miss?
No one, really; although sometimes I think I still must be missing Alina, or at least the friendship we used to have; I keep dreaming about her. Same answer as last year, btw.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
H. (flickr guy).
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Don't have expectations. Don't want things unless they are within your own power to get. Things happen when they happen, or, more likely, don't; expectations only lead to disappointment and needless depression.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Can't think of any.
