It always seems a minor miracle when it eventually turns six and the last customer finally leaves and whoa! I've survived another day and can go home, have dinner, and, more importantly, peace and quiet and privacy. And then I'm always tired and keyed-up all at once, can't sleep, can't even focus on some stupid tv show because it's too emotionally taxing, or perhaps because I don't want to hear people talking, even on tv...

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, because I'm otherwise uninspired.

1. What is the oldest object in the room with you?
One of the stones I collected, I presume. Other than that, I've got all kinds of things from when we cleared out my grandmother's apartment... there's a bronze paperweight with the winged lion of St. Mark that has an inscription from 1886 on the bottom.

[ETA: I'd entirely forgotten, but [livejournal.com profile] pinkyogamuffin's answer reminded me... a few shards of ancient pottery, ahem, how to put this politely and make it sound somewhat less illegal, picked up from various sites in Greece and Turkey. No archaeological context was disturbed, I swear. Most are probably roman, but there are a couple of black-glazed fragments that may be a few centuries BC. I never was a ceramics expert...]

2. What is the newest?
Gift-wrap paper and ribbon.

3. What is your favorite object in the room with you?
One of my ceramic sculptures, because other than camera, books, cds, dvds or pretty much anything else, they're not replaceable, and they're part of me.

4. What is the most valuable object?
The tv, I guess. Or the digital camera. The computer is six years old, I think I'd have to pay money for someone to take it off my hands.

5. What is the ugliest object?
Hard to say, since I'm kind of picky and don't have things I would actually call ugly standing around. A few rather random gifts I got at one time or the other, stored in a box somewhere, I guess. Or the mug and plate painted with a horse I'm going to give Ch. for Christmas, which I don't particularly like, but she probably will.

CD for my sister arrived today, but in the meantime I've been starting to doubt myself and probably won't give it to her after all. Note to self, no more midnight online shopping.

Vanillekipferln &c. have been sent on their way to [livejournal.com profile] soavezefiretto, and I apologise in advance for the crappy, inane card. Just throw it away, mkay? I wanted to replace it, but I was kind of in a rush, didn't want to delay the package for another day, and yeah, I'm aware this is a lousy excuse, but... meh. I'm not good at Christmas cards.

No throwing away of cards is going to happen. Although, if accompanied by Vanillekipferln, I might eat it...
