That makes a lot of sense. Many people loaded with self-doubt often come off quite flip and standoffish in public. I may read it after all. I was ready to buy it, then I started seeing his response to so many things (and went back to see it on others) and it really turned me off to giving him any more of my money.

I don't expect gratitude, just courtesy. I don't wave around the "I pay your paycheck" crap, because I'm not British, so I don't have to pay the BBC tax. And I am only a single consumer. He's right, he can afford to lose a few fans, but I find it very offputting when people don't recognize the relationship between artist and consumer. It's a symbiosis.
